Topica Edtech, a Vietnam-based education technology developer backed by internet company CyberAgent, has raised $50m in a series D round led by private equity firm Northstar Group, Tech in Asia reported yesterday.
Founded in 2008, Topica Edtech operates an online education platform that collaborates with 16 universities internationally to offer degrees from accredited institutions.
The company’s offering includes an augmented reality app for English language tutoring and a marketplace of more than 2,000 short-skill courses ranging from Microsoft Excel to playing the guitar. The company also operates an accelerator program called Topica Founder Institute.
Topica’s existing shareholders include CyberAgent Ventures, the corporate venturing division of CyberAgent, and lab equipment provider EduLab, as well as venture capital firms Openspace Ventures, Patamar Capital and IDG Ventures.
The company has not disclosed details about its earlier funding rounds, however.
