Trifork spears Basho stake

Denmark-based technology company Trifork has acquired 8.35% of US-based NoSQL database vendor Basho Technologies for $1.5m.

Trifork also has an option to acquire a further 3.96% at the end of March.

Trifork, which has become the European distributor for Basho’s Riak product, invested as part of a $7.4m series D round.

Earl Galleher, chief executive and co-founder of Basho, told news provider Mass High Tech the financing was at a "very attractive valuation, compared to what the venture capital community was trying to force on us".

Basho raised $2m in August from angel investors after launching in 2008 to provide a distributed rather than standard centralised database.
