Tujia, a China-based holiday rental room service backed by travel service Homeaway and travel agency Ctrip, has begun talks over a series D round that could raise at least $200m, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
Tujia has neither confirmed nor denied the round, which would more than double the company’s overall funding. It has raised $164m since it was founded.
Tujia received $100m in series C funding from undisclosed investors in June 2014, having previously secured a combined $64m from Ctrip, Homeaway, Lightspeed Venture Partners, GGV Capital, CDH Ventures, Qiming Ventures and CBC Capital across two rounds in 2012 and 2013.
Launched in 2011, Tujia operates an online service where home owners can rent out their property to holiday makers or businesspeople. The company offers a range of offline services including housekeeping to ensure properties remain clean.
Tujia lists some 110,000 properties across 150 cities in China and a range of curated properties in 70 destinations across the world including the US and Hong Kong.
