Unicepta unites with Ubermetrics in acquisition

Media monitoring technology provider Unicepta has agreed to acquire Ubermetrics, a Germany-based peer backed by multichannel retailer group Klingel, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2011, Ubermetrics has built an artificial intelligence (AI)-equipped content analysis tool, which helps companies turn publicly available textual information into data for their communications, marketing and public relations teams.

Unicepta similarly provides an AI-infused data advisory platform that uses data analytics technology to help corporate newsrooms discover opportunities and issues in order to optimise the marketing and content management teams’ performance.

The deal is set to close in the first quarter of this year, and both groups will operate under their respective brands while combining their AI-powered software platforms and technical know-how.

Klingel’s corporate venturing arm, K-Invest, participated in series A round for Ubermetrics in the seven-digit euro range (€1m = $1.3m at contemporary rates) in 2013, investing with public-private partnership High-Tech Gründerfonds. They had already provided an undisclosed amount in seed funding the year before.
