Gradient Ventures, the artificial intelligence-focused fund formed by internet technology provider Google, has led an $11m series A round for US-based software debugging platform developer UnitQ.
The round included family-run venture capital fund Bragiel Brothers, VC firm Creandum and early-stage investment firm XSeed Capital. The company’s earlier backers include Bootstrap Labs.
UnitQ markets a software product called UnitQ Monitor that uses natural language processing to help clients identify and prioritise faults in software by finding critical customer reviews on channels such as mobile app stores.
The series A round was announced in connection with UnitQ Monitor’s official release and the proceeds will support its further development. Proceeds will also support the launch of new projects and the recruitment of additional talent for UnitQ’s team.
Anna Patterson, managing partner of Gradient Ventures, has joined the company’s board of directors. She said: “When an engineering team develops a product, understanding which bugs to prioritise is one of the hardest challenges.
“UnitQ aggregates real-time user data to do this, and also ranks bugs by their impact on customer satisfaction and business impact. This is a big leap for product development teams and the tech industry at large because it turns product quality into a science.”
