US-based venture capital firm Vertex Ventures has closed its first early-stage fund at $151m having attracted limited partners including IT services firm Infosys, DealStreetAsia reported on Monday.
The anchor investor in the fund is Temasek, the Singaporean state-owned investment fund that already operates a venture capital firm known as Vertex Venture Holdings. Vertex Ventures operates as part of a Vertex Venture Holdings global network that also includes funds in Southeast Asia and India, China and Israel.
Vertex Ventures’ fund will concentrate on early-stage investments in enterprise and cloud infrastructure startups. Its latest investment was in app testing and performance monitoring platform Perfecto Mobile last month.
A total of 43 LPs are on board for the fund, according to a regulatory filing, with the final two having added approximately $10m since August this year.
Infosys had reportedly entered talks with another US-based VC firm, 500 Startups, which is in the process of raising $200m for its fourth global fund, earlier this month.
