A larger list of strategic backers for Viewdle, a US-based visual recognition software company, has emerged after the corporate venturing BlackBerry Partners Fund said it was one of its series B round investors in July.
Viewdle raised $10m in its B round of funding from Best Buy Capital, the corporate venturing division of US electrical retailer Best Buy, BlackBerry Partners Fund, which has phone maker Research in Motion as its largest limited partner, network equipment company Qualcomm’s Ventures division and venture capital firm Anthem Venture Partners.
Anthem had provided Viewdle’s $2.5m series A round, according to news provider VentureWire.
In July, John Albright, co-managing partner of BlackBerry Partners Fund, which is backed by Research In Motion, Thomson Reuters and Royal Bank of Canada, said it had backed Viewdle’s series B round along with other strategic investors, according to news provider Beet.TV in its exclusive interview.
Viewdle started in 2007 and will launch visual recognition for videos on mobile devices and desktop computers next year.
