Visionary VR, a US-based developer of virtual reality story creation software, raised $6m yesterday in a series A round that included media group Bertelsmann, which invested through its Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI) fund.
Venture capital firm DFJ led the oversubscribed round, which also featured film production company End Cue, Greycroft Partners’ GC VR Gaming Tracker Fund, Vayner/RSE and assorted angel investors.
Although it is still operating in stealth, Visionary is working on software that will help people create VR content more intuitively. The funds will be used to hire more VR designers and engineers as it builds the commercial version of its software.
The startup had previously raised $580,000 in funding from a host of angel investors including blockchain and VR-focused accelerator Boost VC, according to TechCrunch.
