Volution enters Breathing Buildings in acquisition deal

Oil and gas company BP has exited UK-based ventilation system developer Breathing Buildings through an acquisition by ventilation product supplier Volution Group for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 2006 through a collaboration between Cambridge University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology with funding from BP, Breathing Buildings designs and manufactures intelligent natural and hybrid ventilation solutions.

Venture capital firm MMC Ventures helped provide the company’s initial funding before contributing to a £1m ($1.4m at contemporary rates) round in 2012 that included Berti Green Accelerator and Adapt Low Carbon Group.
