US-based data discovery platform Waterline Data completed a $16m series B round on Thursday led by venture capital firm Partech Ventures that included a $4m investment by IT services provider Infosys.
Founded in 2013, Waterline operates an online self-service data catalogue that data analysts from enterprises and government agencies can use to augment existing data sourcing.
The round will support a growth in sales and marketing, as well as additional R&D investment. It follows a $7m series A round funded by VC firms Menlo Ventures and Jackson Square Ventures, then known as Sigma West, in 2014.
Infosys originally revealed its investment, made as part of a strategic partnership, late last month.
Ritika Suri, senior vice-president of corporate development for Infosys, said: “We see a need for automated data discovery solutions like Waterline Data in helping our clients achieve greater business value from their big data assets.
“This investment underscores our commitment to our clients to bring innovative big data solutions across our platforms and offerings.”
