UK-based apprenticeship training platform WhiteHat secured $16m yesterday in a series A round that featured Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of enterprise software producer Salesforce.
Index Ventures led the round, which also included fellow venture capital firm Lightspeed Ventures.
Founded in 2016, WhiteHat provides non-graduates with training courses covering digital marketing, social media, software development, accounting project management, data analysis and management.
The company works with more than 250 employers including Sky, BP, Facebook, Salesforce, Publicis, Santander and Clifford Chance to help train employee candidates on its platform.
WhiteHat currently focuses on London, but will put some of the capital towards expanding into other UK markets, starting with Leeds. The cash will also allow WhiteHat to attract additional brands.
Alex Kayyal, partner at Salesforce Ventures, said: “As the pace of digital transformation accelerates, there is a pressing need for reskilling and job training.
“At Salesforce, we are committed to workforce development through a diverse set of initiatives, including the apprentices we’ve on-boarded at Salesforce here in London.”
Lightspeed Venture Partners previously led the company’s $4m seed round in September 2018, investing alongside Village Global and private investors Anil Aggarwal and Wendy Tan White.
