Williams fills role at National Futures Association

Matthew Williams has left CME Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of futures exchange operator CME Group, and joined non-profit regulatory organisation National Futures Association (NFA) as managing director of technology strategy and execution.

Williams joined CME Group in 2015 as a technology and data product manager before ascending to manager of corporate strategy the next year.

CME Group appointed Williams director of market structure and strategic investments at CME Ventures in early 2018 and he worked on corporate venturing, market microstructure and enterprise strategy for growth and innovation.

Founded in 2013 by Rumi Morales, who featured on Global Corporate Venturing’s Powerlist in 2017, CME Ventures focuses on artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data, geospatial, quantum computing, financial and payment technology.

His time at CME Group involved Williams taking board seats at portfolio companies including financial communications platform developer Cloud9 Technologies, blockchain technology provider Axoni and financial services app management platform OpenFin. He did not respond to a request for comment regarding his new role.
