WPX Faserkeramik is a spin-off from the Institute of Materials Research of the German Aerospace Centre. It has developed a high performance ceramic fiber composite material called Whipox. The details of the funding were not disclosed.
WPX Faserkeramik GmbH uses Whipox for applications in the industrial heat treatment of metals and possibly in the future for components in the automotive exhaust path. Functional components and prototypes have been successfully tested and implemented in furnaces and as kiln furniture.
