Xiaochuan Chuhai does its series B homework

Xiaochuan Chuhai Education Technology, a China-based mobile homework app producer, has closed a $60m series B round that featured Legend Capital, the corporate venturing arm of conglomerate Legend, Marbridge Consulting reported on Friday.

Venture capital firm GGV Capital and investment firm Xianghe Capital co-led the round, while VC firm Sequoia Capital also contributed capital. Legend Capital and Sequoia Capital previously co-led a series A round of undisclosed size for the company in September 2015.

Zuoyebang was launched in 2014 by internet company Baidu before being spun out in August 2015. It operates an app called Zuoyebang that helps students in primary and secondary education, its features including one-on-one help with homework and live streaming videos of classes.

The cash will help Zuoyebang strengthen its market position as well as hire and train additional staff. The company claims to have attracted 175 million users, partnered 133 education providers and built a database of 95 million homework answers.
