Russia-based contractor services marketplace YouDo has secured $6.2m in series C funding from a consortium led by Sistema Venture Capital, the corporate venturing arm of conglomerate Sistema.
Flint Capital, United Capital Partners and Sergey Solonin, chief executive of payment services provider Qiwi, also contributed to the round.
YouDo operates an online marketplace where consumers can hire local contractors for tasks such as home repair, courier services, moving house and cleaning.
The platform is currently available in Russia, where the money will help further strengthen market position. The cash will also be used to expand into the US, Europe and Asia.
Flint previously supplied $1m in series A funding in 2013, which was followed by a series B round of undisclosed size backed by Flint, United Capital Partners and Solonin.
Alexey Gidirim, co-founder of YouDo, said: “To date, YouDo.com has focused its efforts locally, nevertheless we have built a dedicated and loyal customer base that values the service we provide.
“Our next goal is to maintain our leadership position in Russia and roll out our platform in other countries. The new round of funding will allow us to test new ideas, and launch services over the next 12 months, in several major cities that represent key markets outside of Russia.”
