Demandbase calls for $65m investment

US-based marketing software developer Demandbase has closed a $65m funding round that included creative software producer Adobe Systems.

The round was co-led by Sageview Capital and Silver Lake Waterman, the late-stage growth capital fund of Silver Lake.

Altos Ventures, Greenspring Associates, Scale Venture Partners, Sigma Partners and Split Rock Partners also contributed to the round.

Incorporated in 2005, Demandbase has created an account-based marketing platform that uses artificial intelligence to analyse proprietary business-to-business databases and generate insights that can be used to efficiently target clients with personalised campaigns.

The money will support a strengthening of the company’s market position, accelerate further development of the platform and attract additional customers globally.

Demandbase has raised more than $150m to date. In 2015, Adobe and cloud computing firm Salesforce contributed to a $30m funding round led by Sageview.

Altos Ventures, Costanoa Venture Capital, Greenspring Associates, Scale Venture Partners and Sigma West also participated in the 2015 round.

Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing division of Salesforce, previously injected an undisclosed sum in Demandbase in October 2014.

Adobe first backed Demandbase in 2008, participating in a $8m series B round alongside Sigma and Altos. In 2011, Adobe contributed to a $10m round, followed by a $15m series D in 2013 and a $15m series E in March 2014.
