CornerJob gathers series C resources

Spain-based online recruitment marketplace CornerJob has raised $19m in series C funding from investors including Randstad Innovation Fund, the investment vehicle for human resources services provider Randstad, according to TechCrunch.

The round also featured media companies Groupe TF1, TV Azteca, Mediaset Italia and Mediaset España, while another publisher, Les Echos – Le Parisien, participated through Augesco Ventures, the media-for-equity fund it set up with the support of consultancy Roland Berger.

Media-for-equity funds 5M Ventures and Media Digital Ventures also participated, as did Caixa Capital Risc and Sabadell Venture Capital, the respective investment arms of financial services firms La Caixa and Banco Sabadell, and VC firms Northzone, E.ventures and Samaipata Ventures.

CornerJob has created a recruitment app that focuses on low-skill, high-turnover positions in the services sector. Jobseekers can view a list of nearby companies looking for workers, with CornerJob aiming to streamline the process and eliminating the need for CVs in the industry.

The company is currently working on software tools that would enable employers to accelerate the recruitment process and make more successful hires, and which CornerJob intends to monetise.

Apart from product development, the series C funding will also support a strengthening of CornerJob’s market position in strategic markets – it is currently active in Spain, Italy, France and Mexico – and an expansion into additional markets including the US and an undisclosed European country.

CornerJob expects to secure an additional media-for-equity deal with an as-yet unnamed investor to close the series C round, though a timeline was not revealed.

The funding follows a $25m series B round in July 2016 that included $5m in an ad-for-equity transaction from Azteca. The $20m capital element was led by Northzone and backed by E.ventures and unnamed existing backers.

CornerJob had received $10m in a In February 2016 series A round featuring Mediaset’s media-for-equity arm Ad4Ventures, Antai Business Angels, Sabadell Capital, Bonsai Venture Capital, Cube Investments, Ithaca Investment, Samaipata, La Caixa Capital Risc and Media Digital Ventures.
