Flashpoint triggers $10m series B

US-based deep and dark web intelligence provider Flashpoint completed a $10m series B round yesterday that included subsidiaries of media firm Bloomberg and networking equipment manufacturer Cisco.

Bloomberg Beta and Cisco Investments invested alongside Greycroft Partners, which led the round, consulting firm K2 Intelligence, Jump Capital and Leaders Fund. Greycroft partner Ellie Wheeler is set to join Flashpoint’s board of directors.

Flashpoint supplies companies and governmental organisations with business risk intelligence concerning subjects such as cybersecurity, fraud, physical security, vendor risk and supply chain integrity using data gleaned from the deep and dark web.

Josh Lefkowitz, CEO of Flashpoint, explained: “We gather data from the cyber domain, but the intelligence we produce from that data is relevant to numerous business functions across a company, allowing organisations to flat out make better decisions.

“Our push into business risk intelligence reflects the broad appeal we have found our deep and dark web intelligence has for multiple business units, cybersecurity or otherwise. We are eager to deliver that intelligence to a very underserved market.”

The round comes after a $5m series A round in April 2015 led by TechOperators and backed by Bloomberg Beta, Cisco Investments, Greycroft Partners and K2 Intelligence.
