Looker, the US-based developer of an analytics tool for data platforms, has completed a $48m series C round backed by Sapphire Ventures, the venture capital firm spun out of enterprise software firm SAP.
VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the round, which also included Redpoint Ventures and Meritech Capital Partners.
Looker’s tool enables data analysts to curate and focus on huge amounts of data, and recently released Looker Blocks, a pattern language for analytics intended to assist data analysts in building a custom data platform.
The funding will go to growing Looker’s sales, marketing and engineering teams as it prepares to expand internationally. The company opened its first European office in London in 2015.
Looker has now raised $96m since it was founded in 2013. Sapphire Ventures took part in its $30m series B round in March 2015, investing alongside Meritech Capital Partners, Redpoint Ventures, First Round Capital and PivotNorth.
