Canada-based mobile authentication technology developer SecureKey Technologies secured $19m yesterday in a series C round co-led by Rogers Venture Partners, the corporate venturing unit of telecommunications and media company Rogers Communications.
The round, co-led by investment firm Blue Sky Capital, will be used by SecureKey to support international growth.
SecureKey offers an online identification and authentication platform dubbed SecureKey Concierge, which enables users to securely access online services. Its clients include the governments of Canada and the US as well as a range of financial services providers.
The company raised $30m in a 2012 series B round led by Intel Capital, the corporate venturing arm of semiconductor company Intel, and which also featured telecommunications companies Rogers and Telus, and payment services providers Visa, Mastercard and Discover Financial Services.
Intel Capital previously invested an undisclosed amount in SecureKey in 2011, and the company raised $2.5m in debt and equity in additional financing between 2010 and 2012.
Charles Walton, SecureKey’s CEO, said: “The funding will help SecureKey accelerate its growth, as people, governments, and organisations worldwide embrace a future that removes the burden of passwords while giving consumers the convenience, choice, and control they deserve.”
