Watchwith finds time to raise $8m

US-based advertising technology developer Watchwith has received $8m in series B capital from media company Rogers Communications, consumer electronics producer Samsung and telecoms technology manufacturer Arris, TechCrunch reported on Friday.

Rogers invested through Rogers Venture Partners, the corporate venturing unit that led Watchwith’s $5m series A round in 2013. Arris and music and video database operator Gracenote also participated in that round.

Watchwith’s technology analyses the content of videos and inserts overlay adverts over part of the screen at opportune moments that it claims will not negatively impact the viewer’s experience.

The offering is already used by US-based television broadcasters such as Fox, NBCUniversal and Viacom for online content.
