Scientific analysis tool supplier Waters has agreed to buy one of its portfolio companies, Switzerland-based automated laboratory equipment developer Andrew Alliance, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2011, Andrew Alliance supplies software-defined robotic pipettes that automatically extract and discharge liquids using the exact parameters of scientific research experiments.
The pipettes will augment Waters’ lab measurements product range, specifically extending its appeal in mass spectrometry: the scientific procedure that separates molecules and other fragments according to their mass.
Waters joined lab technology producer Inpeco and scientific instrument vendor Tecan in Andrew Alliance’s series C round, which closed at $14m in mid-2018, and which included Rancilio Cube, Sam Eletr Trust and Omega Funds.
Omega Funds had provided an undisclosed amount of series B funding for the company in 2014. It has not revealed details of its series A financing.
